Hello LADIES! Laura Miranda here, Physical Therapist, Personal Trainer and local fitness & nutrition expert. I want to welcome you to my blog, well YOUR blog actually.

I call it “yours” because  it was created for all of the faithful, hungry (“devotion-wise”, not “eating-wise”) and dedicated women out there. In one place I have finally compiled all of my top-secret, elite, cutting edge fitness and nutrition advice for YOU, the busy woman. SO DIG IN.  Please leave any and all comments after my posts. I love talking (perhaps more than I love working you people out.)

My biggest projects include  boot camps, running camps, and personal training for women in the wee hours of the morning in NYC, Long Island and NOW Hollywood FLORIDA! (starting Jan 2010!)

www.StrongHealthyWoman.com, the site,  was created by me as a place for all BUSY WOMEN to experience up-to-date info  how to look and feel amazing.  I have been a personal fitness trainer and Licensed Physical Therapist of WOMEN in NYC for the past 10 years. In addition to that I am an “arm-chair” psychologist (meaning I have NO formal training what so ever when it comes to the inner workings of the human mind.)  HOWEVER you best believe I will not hold back any of my 2 cents in this arena, ever. This crazy combo of careers allows me to delve deeper than any human-fitness-person into how to get the most out of you, the BUSY  WOMAN.

My official bio (in 3rd person, which is always awkward):

Laura Miranda MsPT, CSCS- Owner Miranda Fitness Concepts INC, Licensed Physical Therapist, Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach. Laura grew up in Baldwin, Long Island suburb and now resides in Battery Park City, NYC.  She has been involved in competitive athletics since the age of 7. It was a result of extensive rehabilitation for a potentially career ending knee injury in high school that lead Laura to pursue a career in sports medicine. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of South Carolina. During that time Laura Miranda became a Certified Personal Trainer (ACE) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) specializing in collegiate athletes as well as heading up the Geriatric Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program at USC. Laura continued on to graduate Hunter College in New York City with a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy. In addition to running Miranda Fitness Concepts INC in NYC, Long Island and Florida, she still works with sports orthopedic rehabilitation patients at  New York Downtown Hospital in Manhattan in a private practice setting.

Laura holds a unique niche in the field of health and wellness by combining her complex understanding of human movement as a Physical Therapist with her knowledge of fitness and nutrition as Personal Trainer. She and her programs have been featured in a nationwide Kashi cereal commercial, on the WB 11 Morning News and NY1; in print in Crain’s, Shape, Time Out, Viv Magazine, Best of Gay New York, Edge, The Nest, MSN, Gay City News, Village Voice, Daily News, Newsday, AM New York, Metro, Examiner New York, Well and Good NYC, NY Sun, Explore LI, Stroller In The City, and the Long Island Herald. Laura emphasizes the importance of both physiological and psychological balance in pursuit of achieving goals for the body as well as for life. “The body cannot run at 100% capacity until the brain is doing the same.”

Most recently, Laura has taken the success of her women’s programs in NYC, Long Island and Florida and expanded it to www.GayMensBootCamp.com She also is a successful business coach for Physical Therapists with such programs as http://www.CashPhysicalTherapy.com.
